The Pediatric Trauma Performance Improvement Coordinator collaborates with trauma systems' partners, to include community and public health agencies, schools, pre-hospital EMS providers, Fire and Police agencies and other healthcare professionals throughout the region. Interacts and works closely with entities of the trauma system including the Pediatric Trauma Medical Director, Department of Surgery, Hospital Administration, and the Trauma Team. Works across multiple disciplines to maintain comprehensive trauma system. Promotes the coordinated activities for data collection, verification, entry, retrieval for the Department of Health (DOH) Regional Trauma Registry. Manages/coordinates process of monthly and real time chart reviews and quality initiatives for Trauma PI Committee. Requests and interprets reports from Trauma Center databases including NTRACS and NTDB. Coordinates and participates with CNY RTAC. Manages performance improvement indicator as outlined by the DNV, American College of Surgeons, DOH and hospital criteria. Initiates and manages follow-up on identified performance improvement opportunities determined by the Trauma PI Committee.
NYS licensed/registered (or eligible) Registered Nurse, Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and a minimum of 4 years satisfactory post licensure acute care RN experience required. Excellent written/oral communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills required. CPR-BLS certification required by time of appointment. Candidate must have baseline understanding of statistics, data analysis and quality improvement.
Experience working in Trauma preferred. Pediatric certification and Masters degree preferred. Clinical experience with quality and PI projects and knowledge of Microsoft office suite - specifically PowerPoint, Access, and Excel preferred.
