Performs hospital-based coding and injury scaling and provides trauma-related data to the trauma service team. Monitors each trauma case through the continuum of care within the Hospital to identify cases, extract necessary information and report it for inclusion in the trauma registry database in an accurate and timely manner.
Identifies all patient cases that meet criteria for inclusion in the trauma registry database, abstracts patient medical records and enters relevant data to maintain the Hospital’s trauma registry.
Utilizes trauma registry software to submit all pertinent data to the state Division of Emergency Medical Operations, Office of Trauma, Trauma Registry Program in accordance with the Florida Trauma Registry Manual.
Analyzes registry data and disseminates trauma information or reports.
Demonstrates proficiency on trauma registry, communications and ensure accuracy and completeness of work and documentation within appropriate timeframe. Demonstrates a thorough understanding, accurate interpretation and knowledge of the standards that regulate trauma registry activities
High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
Previous Trauma Registry experience or equivalent ICD-9 and CPT coding experience preferred
RN License preferred
Board certified in Trauma Registry preferred
Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, ability to follow verbal instructions, PC skills
